Sway bar, '67 F-100?

Post by tjss75 »

Did Ford ever put a factory sway bar on the "67 -'72 two wheel drive pickups? I have seen after market ones but would like to find one at a pick-a-part. Any help?

if they did they were only on the F250. if you are checking the junkyard. check 73-79 trucks. they bolt right up to our trucks.

There was never a sway bar on F100s, though F250/350 could get them. However, these swaybars were mounted in-between the radius arms, instead of up in front like the '73-up trucks had.

Here's a couple pics of one on an F350 bumpside:

In the rare instances these were used, they were most likely found on Camper Specials. Because of this, most exhaust header manufacturers state that their headers will not fit Camper Specials, although they'll fit just fine as long as you don't have this style of swaybar.

The '73-up trucks use a more conventional front-mounted swaybar. If you find one at a salvage yard, be sure to get the bracket that sits under the coil springs. They're a pain to remove, but the swaybar is almost useless without it. Here are a few pics to use for reference:
