Suspension Swap
I have a 68 bump. And I also own an 86 Grand Marquis that may need a trans soon. I was thinking about stripping the GM to build a killer bump. Will the suspension swap be pretty straight forward or does it have to be a newer Crown Vic for this swap? I would also do the 5.0 swap as my bump has the 240. I also have 22's on the GM that would go on the bump. Just thinking on my options.

Re: Suspension Swap
The suspension on the merc will have to be cut and grafted in to the bump or maybe swap bodies, the 03 up c-vics, marquis have an unboltable crossmember, so the older versions would be a graft, not bad since you already own the car , you have a front suspension, 8.8 rear ,motor/trans,drive shaft etc, just some fab work and have a nice driver.

Re: Suspension Swap
That is / was a popular swap, although quite labor intensive.
The 03-up seems easier, but if you have a donor car I'd say go for it. (if you're good at fabricating and welding.)

Re: Suspension Swap
Isn't the 5 lug bolt pattern on that GM smaller than our trucks?I also have 22's on the GM that would go on the bump.

Yes the Grand Marquis uses the 5x4.5 pattern.basketcase0302 wrote:Isn't the 5 lug bolt pattern on that GM smaller than our trucks?I also have 22's on the GM that would go on the bump.
