Rear sway bars

Post by 289kman »

Hey gang... New to the forum, could use a bit of help..
I have a 68 F100 Ranger 2WD.
Saw a 4wd 81 ford bronco in the junkyard with a rear sway bar...
Will that "bolt on" to my truck?
I have done the research here and know I have a 34" wide rear frame rail spacing but cant seem to find the measurement for the 81 Bronco. It was tough to measure by myself at the yard.
Anyone know for sure on fitment with this??
Thanks!

The bronco has a wider frame in the rear, looks to be 37.56". I have a 72' F350 and putting a ford 10.25 sterling axle in the back out of a 95' and using the sway bar also so will fab mounts for it. I think the big thing would be is the bronco the 9" and if your truck has the same axle if that bolts on the axle probably could fab sway bar mounts.

Zakt, Thanks for all of the effort and info...
The bronco does have a 9" in it so, it looks like if I fabbed some 1.78 spacers on each side with longer grade 8 bolts it might work.... :fr:

I will have to do the same with mine... The outside of the swaybar is 37.56 and my brackets look to be 1" wide on the end so a few ways to do it (below my 94 F250 sterling 10.25 -35 spline shafts with 4.10 limited slip):

1) mount brackets on the side of the frame with looks like a 3/4 spacer out

Id rather not see the gap so will do something at the axle point where the tire/wheel etc will hide it.

2) mount the bracket under the frame and bend the drop rod to the bar
3) mount it under the frame then drop it straight down but put a piece across at the swaybar to join them.

maybe something like this but from the sway bar to the frame and turn it inward
