Dual front shock per corner setup
Does anyone have pictures of the factory dual shock setup on the front of our trucks? Or a picture of the mounting bracket? Where exactly does it go? Any info on this setup would be great.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Dual front shock per corner setup
i have often wondered what the front shock mount would look like on the bottom for a dual setup. i know the coil tower will just have a hole in the top front of it for a dual shock setup. i had often thought that maybe the mount for the front on a dual system would be the same but reversed sides for the front shock.

Re: Dual front shock per corner setup
I don't have a picture but the quad shock had a different c bushing bracket.(f150 4X4).
Then the upper mount bolted to the frame.
Look at a '78/'79 Bronco , they had one shock in front of the axle and one behind.
the front was like a quad shock.

I'm talking about 2WD. I know what the setup looks like on a 4wd, like my brohter's bronco.

Re: Dual front shock per corner setup
i have seen this setup before and had a chance to buy this setup but i am doing the 3" autofab lift so i passed on the setup but i do remember where the mounting point for the the lower bracket was. im sure that it wont be to hard to fab up a bracket. they mounted to the I- beam on the front sideof the beam. there is a bolt on the I- beam right around the bend and that is where the bracket is mounted to the I- beam. i will try and get a pic up of the exact location on the mounting point.

Re: Dual front shock per corner setup
I know the spot you are talking about on the beam. I could fairly easily fab something up myself but I'd rather buy a factory piece to put on, then brace it or something.
My plan is to get the factroy dual shock setup so i cna use the stock lower shock mounts, Then im going to cut the slice the sides of the coil bucket off just outside of the coil, then plate it closed again. That way i can fit some nice long 14x2.5" shocks on both sides of the coil. Well that's the plan. I'm not sure if the current shock mount will allow a 2.5" to clear the frame.

Re: Dual front shock per corner setup
I have never heard of a dual shock setup offered by the factory on any bumpside truck, 2WD or 4WD....and I think I have just about every piece of factory bumpside literature ever printed. It's not mentioned in any brochure, nor is it pictured in the Master Parts Catalog. It wouldn't be difficult at all to add, though:

Re: Dual front shock per corner setup
i had a frame that was made from the factory with 2 holes in top of the coil tower on a 2wd truck. i think it was aF250 but it could have been a F100.

Re: Dual front shock per corner setup
To my knowledge all of the 2WD spring towers have two shock holes because they are identical. There is no unique left or right tower; they made one stamping for either side. You could swap them and they would fit left or right equally.

Re: Dual front shock per corner setup
Thanks for the pics Keith, that's cool.
Flyboy, that makes perfect sense as to why there are two holes! So they don't have to stamp two sperate pieces.
I am going to weld on some tabs similiar to what Keith posted, hack the side of the coil tower off for clearance and fab a new shock tower. Then brace it all backup.
