steering wheel column swap

ok i finally found my steering wheel puller and got my steering wheel off of my m/s column and when i was putting it on my p/s column there is a very noticable between the wheel and the column did i do something wrong is there to be a spacer in there

at the bottom of the comlumn is suppose ot be a collar that holds the bottom bearing in place and tight into the bearing cup. that needs to be adjusted to get rid of that gap.
