Rear lowering block kit?

Post by 1968flareside »

Does anyone make these for our trucks or a universal setup? While I have the bed off, I'd like to lower the rear a couple inches to level the truck.

AIM Industries used to be up in Phoenix. Probably still there. I went there a long time ago to look at there stuff. I think they sell a shackel kit. ( Chassis Tech ) It puts the spring mounting points up thereby lowering the rear of the truck.
Found it in Mesa,

Go to the AIM site and put in "Lowered Trucks not Air" in the little drop down box. Then select the Ford logo. You will see there product line for our trucks.

The new rear springs are said to give 2-3 inches of drop with no loss of ride quality. For only $169 that would be the route I would take.

I was looking at the rear suspension tonight. The leaf springs are OVER the rear axle! Is that right for a F100 2wd or did someone probably do this to the truck? All I want to do is level the thing out. Here's the best picture I have of the difference between the front and rear ride height.

Yes, the springs supposed to be mounted over the axle. That's where the rearend flip kit comes in, to mount them below the axle to get the back end down lower.

well you could make your own lowering blocks. i hate the aluminum ones.
i broke a bunch of them. if your going to make some hp make some out of steel. get some square tube and drill a hole straight through. tread one side and put a allen head in the other side. make sure you get the tight size head. the aluminum is cast and likes to break then fall out.

if theres a new way, i'll be the first in line. it better work this time

But simply using the lowering blocks by themselves wouldn't work with the current factory setup. I would still have to get the leaves under the axle. Which, according to the AIM site, will lower the rear 5-6 inches. That is about half the price of what is GT Racer mentioned...

And, hate to say, AIM doesn't show the rear leaves for our years. They are newer years only. http://www.truckn-store.com/product.asp ... p&ID=85121

BOTP lists them, but they are almost 400 big ones and only offer a 2 inch drop.

No sweat! It's easier on their site to plug in the make, model, year, and category.

Go the AIM route. I have the shackles and hangers for the rear and the drop i-beams for the front. Haven't installed yet, but the shackles and hangers look fairly simple plus the sell the 2 degree pinion correction "blocks". Shackles were $69/pair and hangers $99/pair pinion shims $18/pair. You will also need shocks if going more than 2" - $88/pair. Hope this helps!
