$100.00 power steering box

Post by FoPAR »

Been going to the wrecking yard a bunch this week and one of the trucks has a power steering box on it still, everything looks good and they are asking $100.00 for it. It's the only part I need to change mine over when I do the 460 motor swap. Does this sound like a good price for these? I've seen complete power steering kits from $400.00 up to $900.00 so $100.00 for the box didn't sound to bad. Just wondering.

You can get a new rebuilt box (A1 Cardone) from Advance for $132.99, with a core charge of about $30. So, if you don't have a core, the full price would amount to $162.99, which is not much more than it would cost to buy that one for $100 and replace the seals.

It has a lifetime warranty, which is great since the seals in these boxes are bad to leak after a few years.

I know someone who used to work for Cardone, and their quality control is superb!!

I put one of these on my truck, and I'm well pleased!!! :woohoo:

That may be a better route, if you've got the correct pitman arm.
Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools talk because they have to say something.--Plato
Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

That's not an oil leak :nono: That's SWEAT from all that HORSEPOWER!!

IMO, that is too steep. I plan on going the same route as 70_F100.
