So I get to my mom's house this weekend and bumpy is pouring oil onto her driveway... I look at the pan and there is a plastic plug in place of where the oil bolt should be, I look closer and the original threads are totally stripped.
Question: my pan is a 1970 front sump 360.. can I use a standard passenger car front sump from a 390.. does the truck pan have more oil capacity than a passenger car?
the car pan will only move the oil drain plug slightly to the side. so when you drain the oil it will drain onto the crossmember instead of into a pan. they are the same capacity.
and the repair kit is a lot less expensive and a LOT less hassle installing than a new oil pan....assuming the old pan is worth saving, of course.
