Exhaust Question

Post by Black69F250 »

Does anyone know what the pipe size is on a 360 390 engine? I am looking for the spec on the outside diameter of the pipe coming from the manifolds to the muffler.

Thanks

Thanks... That's most likely the outside measurement. The muffler will be 2 1/2 inside to be able the slip over the header pipe.

The exhaust pipe going to the muffler is 2 1/2. If you buy a muffler with a 2 1/2" inlet it will slip right over the pipe.

to updat emore on my situation. i was looking through the diagrams. and it seems the f250 f350 and 4wd all use the same pipe as my f100 4wd. i checked every part store in town. and onl one can special order the pipe. if i tell them it is a 73 f350 4wd. because the eninge is a 73 and the front axle is a 74. if i try for 71 f350 4wd i get nothing as far as a part. is there a difference in the 73 manifold vs the 71 drivers manifold? that is all i can think of as far as the difference. i have the 73 and up drivers manifold.

A related question - I have a 1970 F100, 360, 2wd - this is a helpful thread, b/c my muffler & tailpipe fell off yesterday - I can get the right size muffler & tailpipe, but not sure how to attache the muffler on the front end - the pipe is there, intact, no rust, just nothing to bolt to

all of the mufflers and tailpipes are held on by muffler bracket hangers. where ever you can botl them to is goignt o hold it up. usually the hangers are in places such as the frame and rear cab mount crossmember. as well as other places. http://www.fordification.com/tech/image ... aust03.jpg

Thanks - got that part - familiar with loose hagars and such - but how do I connect the muffler to the pipe coming back from the Y pipe?
