Some of these Holley single barrels came with a glass float bowl and were kinda neat to watch run. I have one here from a 223 Ford 6 cyl. that I was afraid it would get broken so I replaced it with a metal one. Anyway, once you get the kit in and you are satisfied that everything is in place, the last thing you install is the fuel bowl. With the carb in the upright position, gently lift the float till it stops against the needle valve. You can bend the metal tang just above the needle and seat so that the top of the float is perfectly level. That should be about the best starting point for a float setting. These carbs are fairly basic and the rest of the settings can be done with the idle/mixture screw. Reinstall the bowl, and run the engine. The other bench adjustment you can do is turn in the idle/mixture screw till it bottoms then turn it out 1 1/2 turns. I'm also assuming you have a manual choke which is a good thing on these carbs.

Usually, instructions for setting the float are included. They might be in spanish, though.

I'm not trying to make light of your situation. I'll check my manuals tonight when I get home.

Go to http://www.tocmp.com/ It is a site that contains numerous old car manuals. There you will find a downloadable and printable manual for the Holley 1904, It contains all the info you need. I also run one with a glass bowl on a 223, and the glass bowl is a diagnostic tool in itself.
