Need help with column parts

Post by papabug71 »

Im just about finished rebuilding my P/S auto column. Im having it blasted & painted this weekend. I have a couple of questions tho.

What is this black plastic washer/spacer called? I need a new one & cant find it in any of the vendors catalogs...?

Also, How do I get the bottom bearing out of the column? I know how to do the top, but I need a little help on the bottom.

usually the bottom one falls out when you take the shaft out. you will have to pry it out. the white plastic thing is called a bearign sleeve. its part number 45-0795 in the lmc catalog. the black thing is part number 45-0762 lower bearing seal

Ok, thanks Craig. I got the bearing out this morning. It was a PITA. I had to rent a pilot bearing puller from autozone. Then I had to soak it with PB & put some heat on it with my torch. After a couple of taps, it came out.

Im going to reuse the sleeve. Its in fine shape. The seal will need replaced.
