Since my new project truck hasn't been driven much over the last 5 years it was suggested that I replace the fuel filter. I decided to go ahead and replace the pump as well. The person at the auto parts counter told me that the filter was included in the canister but we couldn't screw open the canister to check. Is the filter sold with the pump and canister and is there a tool for removing the canister so I can check and eventually replace the filter.
Thanks,
Jeff

i dont know if the filter is in there or not. i cant remember. i think it is. but i use a large pair of pliers on the very bottom side. that way it wont dent the can when i turn it.

All the fuel pumps I've ever had on my truck the filter was included with the pump. I use a pair of channel-locks to remove the canister on mine . Use them on the bottom on the can and don't squeeze so hard that you bend the canister.
