flex-o-matic

Post by Darren »

My '71 has the flex-o-matic rear suspension and the truck rides like a 3/4 ton. Has anyone here done any mods on this type of suspension to soften the ride? Did this factory option also involve heavier fron springs? Thanky.

the flex o matic is a f250 spring. it was intergrated into the f100 in 68 i think. you can remove leafs from the pack to make it more springy but wotn hold up the same wiegh factors. the front suspension came in several weigh factors. 3000 3300 and so forth. that was indivdual to each truck and can be decoded from the vin tag on each truck. better shocks will help soften the bumpyness of the ride.
