And the ever changing saga over here takes yet another turn. My brother is starting college and was going to take his classes online. Well now he has to take a math and English class before he can start his program, but he has to go to the campus to take these classes. Guess what he is driving, my Ranger. Sooo in the event he decides he wants to go to the college instead of taking classes online...I need to finish the F100 so I will have a vehicle if I ever land a steady job gig sometime soon. (hopefully).
Got a couple questions now...
Can I reuse the oil pump for now, or should I just go ahead and replace? Can it be dissembled and checked out? Same with the mechanical fuel pump?
Can I get away with running a factory intake and motorcraft carb for the interm? 268h cam I guess.
Run the points dizzy I have?

Re: 460 Engine build questions
They come apart on all Ford engines that I am aware of. At least since 68. Tell us what you are doing though. Are you rebuilding a 460 for the F100. Maybe I just didn't read close enough.
If I had an engine apart and on the stand I am not sure I would re-use an oil pump. They don't cost that much. You do not have to buy a fancy name brand pump to be safe just a quality pump is all you need. You don't need high pressure or volume either. Just a plain oil pump in most street engines is fine so long as the engine is put together well.
Fuel pumps can be taken apart I am sure but the same reasoning arises in my mind. A new standard pump does not cost that much. IF your original is working I would reuse it.

Re: 460 Engine build questions
Yes now I am just doing a rebuild. Thing is I tossed the intake. So now Im junkyard hunting a intake. Kept the factory carb tho for some reason. Also have a early 429 points dizzy. Im just going to replace the pump. No since in skimping here.
I had torn the engine down and put new bearings and rings in, and a large cam with 288/292 duration. But now the direction has changed to a slightly warmed over stocker.
This way both me and my brother have something to drive and I dont have to bus him around.

Yes it is a spread bore.
I think I will just pick up a reman Duraspark distributor. Can get one for the same price as a conversion kit for the points distributor.
