Extra parts with accel. pump diaphram???????

Post by babygoat17 »

I just got a new accel. pump diaphram for 2100 carb, but in the box there are two little metal pins about 1/4 inch x 3/4 inch. What are these things?? I dont recall anything like them falling out when i took it apart. Just curious as to what they are.

It sits on top of the accelerator pump check ball. Kinda acts as a weight.

Those pumps fit a variety of Autolite/Motorcraft carbs.

Some of them have a longer housing on the accelerator pump, and they require those pins between the pump arm and the pump diaphragm. Actually, the pin was made as part of the pump diaphragm on them originally. Since the diaphragm is the same on about all of the carbs, they made the diaphragm universal and added the pins separately.

If yours didn't have one, just chunk them or put them in your "junk" box. You may find that you can use them for something else down the road...

The one on top of the check ball is more like 1/8" diameter, maybe even a little smaller.

Oh, I guess he did say 3/4" didn't he? You're right 70 F100, I've got 4 or 5 of those spacer pins in my 2100/4100 junk box.

Thanks guys. I just had to double check and make sure I wasn't missing anything. My truck runs alot better after replacing the diaphram.
