Using a longer pitman arm on PS conv.
Just wodering if there's anything that will work to speed up the steering when I get around to doing the disc & power steering conversion. This non- power is wearing me out, since all I do is city driving, and I drive it 6 days a week. I'm shooting for a Saginaw box, so I was thinking I could get a little longer arm to give it a little sportier feel.

you wotnneed it. once you put the power steering on. it will be like night and day in the difference. the lock to lock on the stering wheel is different from manual steering to power. so it makes for fewer turns of the wheel too. i dotn recall what the difference was in lock to lock for each box but it is posted on the site in the forums someplace.

Re: Using a longer pitman arm on PS conv.
I've got P/S on my 70 F-100.
If there was a longer pitman arm that would work, I'd love to get one.
I'd love to get that "sporty" feel in the steering.
Mine is about 3-1/2 turns, lock-to-lock.
Maybe it's just the 6-foot diameter steering wheel that Ford put on these back in the day... LOL

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

I drove an F600 school bus when I was in high school.
You could almost use the steering wheel for a ferris wheel!!!
