distrubotor question

when i pop off the cap, everything, the screws seems tight on points, but the whole assembly. it seems a little loose, isnt is supposed to be tight. how often do distributors go bad.

so what is it that seems loose. and how is it loose? is it so loose it wiggles with barley moving it wiht a finger. or do you have to really grab it to wiggle it loose?

The plate your points are mounted on is supposed to move. This is what makes the spark advace in your timing. It should not be sloppy loose but it should be free to move.

Yeah they can go bad, the bushing can wear and it will wobble.
