4wd stock exhaust 2wd?

Post by fordman »

i am tring to put a 2wd stock exhaust system on my 4wd. does anyone know if the 2wd stock exhaust pipes are the same shape and fitment as the stock 4wd exhaust pipes? i am hitting the pan and it seems to not want to twist to the proper fitting to the drivers side exhaust manifold.

There is no stock dual exhaust so the drivers side crosses over between the engine and transmission so the transfer case makes no difference.

when i got the truck it had duals on itbut they were rusted out and went to the junk. they came down the passenger side. i stopped at a place that made them today. and he said he through all of his books out. so he couldnt make one unless the truck was there. im goign to look elsewhere. for soemone that didnt throw there books away.

Maybe you could just cut the one you have about 2 inches from the flange, ad some pre-bent tubing and just make your own. I've done that with no problems whatsoever.

i dont know. i have another 2wd system. and a dual system i could take from another truck. but the transfer case is in the way. i think i am going to have to store the truck for a time. it looks like i may have title problems with it now. whatever it takes to mess me up with this truck it is happening.

if i am thinking right the drivers side crosses under the oil pan to hook up to the passenger side. is that correct?

I am thinking about getting this Walker exhaust system. It is a single exhaust, but I am not trying to build a power house, just a nice truck to drive.

It was a long time ago so it is vague, but when I was doing my conversion to 4wd, I had to change my driver side exhaust manifold from the 2wd one to the 4wd part. Perhaps the manifolds are different? 360 / dual exhaust.

If you were to go dual, at least on my truck, there are some crazy bends in the exhaust to clear the front drive shaft.

The manifolds are the same. Just cut yours, ad some tubing and make the bend yourself then connect it with some sleeves, very easy. Don't make it harder than it is.
