wants to stall

Post by hotrod ford »

the more i have my truck on the road the more it wants to stall right after it has been started. i will drive after leaving the house or work and it wants to stall at a stop. i have checked for any vacumn leaks nd can't find any. the only thing that is different on the engine that i have done was put a bigger air filter. is it possible it is getting to much air compared to fuel?

Check the fuel pump. Mine just went out, and it did the same thing-it wanted to stall. I had it replaced for free at Star Auto Parts under a lifetime warranty. Unfortunately, the replacement didn't work. I was looking for other reasons why the truck wouldn't run, when the fuel pump was the problem all along. Lesson learned, never assume something works simply because it's new. The second replacement works fine :D

well, took it out again today. down 195 up to about 70-75. ran like a champ. so i know it's not the pump and it's not starving for fuel. i'm tending to think it may be a vaumn leak somewhere. tomorrow i will go and get a vacumn and compression tester. kill two birds with one stone i guess. i need them anyway.
