I have a 427 in my 68 f-100.Im using a stock heavy duty type starter on my engine. Its been on there 8 years and I,ve never had any trouble with it. Only problem I can see is the header has to be taken loose to get to it. I also run 2 gauge cables and a 1000 cranking amp battery.

I would go with the Robb Mc Starter! He came out to my FE BBQ and brought all of his cool stuff. Neat guy and very personal. The starters are A1 quality and I'm sure if you ever had a problem that he would make it right with you. Neat person and I hope to meet up with him again. Good luck on you starter shopping

Hey Wes! Thanks for sharing your anecdote! An FE BBQ? That sounds like a dream come true.
At this point I'm definitely planning to go with the RobbMc unit.
Thanks again Wes,

You BET!!! Any time that I can help out. I didnt do an FE BBQ last year. I hope to do one this year but it depends on what happens with work LOL. If I'm here then I will plan another BBQ for this year. We will see what happens.
By the way, Robb builds very nice stuff. Hands down!!!

Since I finally got to the right stage, I just now installed the RobbMc starter! It went on VERY easily. It's such a pleasure to work with that starter because its quality is unreal; it feels like a fine camera or pistol in my hands.

I'll post again when I've had a chance to spin the starter for the first time!

Looks great!!! I know I really like the quality of my RobbMC starter and have not had any problems with it. I think you made a great choice!! What cables are you going to use?

Hi 67fordkc, thanks very much! Glad to know that you've enjoyed your RobbMc starter also!
I'm thinking of re-using the cables I previously had on the truck. They're not super pretty but they're 0 gauge and made in USA. I forget the exact brand, but they're blue. The word "lightning" comes to mind but I'm not sure if that's in the brand name or not!
They're still in great shape. Maybe I'll try to clean them up so they look like they match the rest of the engine!
Thanks 67fordkc!
