The reason that I do not like rear exit is we use our trucks as trucks here in Ga. If I back up against a hill or down into a ditch I do not want to plug my pipes with mud.

I don't need to hear it. I need to feel it when i hit the gas. I don't need to draw attention to myself. You can make any vehicle loud. It doesn't make it any faster. Police cars are fast and quiet.R.Smith wrote:Out of the side in front of the rear wheel. No point having an FE if you can't hear her sing.
Exactly my point. I've seen a lot of guys who think their trucks are fast because they're loud. They're not, they're just obnoxious.70_F100 wrote:

To each his own. I CAN drive a quiet (and good performing) V8 and be happy. I personally don't want to hear it, nor do I have to.fomocoguy wrote:
I also have to say that when it comes to the subject of the sound and hearing the exhaust (for me and most people I know that own a V8 powered anthing) the sound is one of the great benefits. In stock form no engine moves the soul and emits the wonderful growl that a V8 does, let alone with a nice set of pipes. The billion dollar business of aftermarket exhaust is absolute proof of that. Not that any of us need proof; just try driving a mundane 6 cylinder or 4 banger econo-box for a week straight without touching your truck, then try not to smile when you fire it up for the first time in seven days and rumble off down the road. You can't do it!
You can just as easily use larger diameter pipe if you want rear or rear-side exit exhaust and low back pressure. The larger diameter pipe will compensate for the additional bend.jzjames wrote:The bend of the tailpipes up and over the rear axles will increase your backpressure and rob you of some of your power.
