Harbor Freight Engine Stand

Post by stephen44 »

The 1000# weight limit one - can I start a hot FE390 on this ?

I want to test the engine before I will install in newly restored truck (when it is done  )

edit [...ok - I looked at the stand - it does not hold the engine in a fixed position - so what stand do I need that I can start the engine on ??
thanks

I built one, maybe you can see it in the photo. It is bolted together and it works really well. Built it out scrap lumber I had laying around. I used a riding lawn mower gas tank and old battery tray for the battery and a riding lawn mower ignition switch. I start this one up once and while just to keep it motovated a little. Starting to look a little rough but some paint would help.

i have been thinking about building one out of steel for just the engine to be transported around with. the stand above would probably work for what you want. for testing purposes though if you have aauto trasn a coulpe of bricks beside the engine woudl help it from rolling over if oyu hooke dit up just to start it for show purposes. (show it runs "for sale")

The engine mounts are from the truck the engine came out of. It also has casters under it so I can roll it around, on concrete anyway. I'll try to get some photos of it this weekend for ya.

Now that's a cool idea. Looks like you took some time planning that out too.
