As mentioned earlier, I think almost every auto parts store I've ever been in will fabricate hydraulic hoses for you on-site. Just bring them the old one and they can duplicate it and save you a lot of time looking for one that's been obsolete for 35+ years.

Fordification is right, take the hose to a hydrulic shop or an auto store that can fab hoses. I think it cost me $30 to have my hose built for my P.S.

Yeah, probably right. I just trust molds to be right each time better than human hands.

The return hose is low pressure. You can make any length of steering hose work with just hose clamps. Maybe even fuel line.

i'm counting my options here and found a 68 bendix in mac's I shudder at the thought of dealing with their service line though, so: as I understand it all bendix boxes have 4 bolt connections to the body/frame and are all the same through all years that they were used. correct? if that will not work i'll be looking for a steering column too...
thanks

NPD list quite a few PS hoses. They were the only ones who had decent quality hoses for my 72. Although nearly any NAPA can make hoses...

You need to save the fitting off of your old low pressure side hose. Also the fittings and their location are pretty much the same for the bendix and saginaw box. I just swapped from one gearbox to the other on my '71 and the hoses worked fine. The high pressure side should be pretty much the same up through 1970something. Pretty sure they used the same style pump for several years. The parts house guys will pull parts for a few different year models for you to look at if you ask them.

For instance ask them to show you both hoses for a 1976 model with a 302. They would probabley work on your truck. The low pressure side might be a different length because of the different cooler.

Guys, check out this thread.

I seem to remember something about the different pressure for the Bendix steering box. Something like if you use a later pump you'll blow out the seals on the bendix box or is it the other way around? Sorry, the memory is foggy.

Yeah didn't someone post the tag numbers he needed for a resto with a Bendix?

Return lines are non pressurized so if you have the fitting that goes into the box you can use some regular hose for the return. I did mine this way and have had no problems with it at all. I do have some pics of it in my gallery if you want to look.
If at first you don't succeed. Get another beer.
