all is enclosed in the timing cover. The timing belt powers the water pump and i guess best to replace it all while it's easy to get to.
It's not all that bad of a job. A lot easier if you have a lift; crawling around sux.

You nailed it, it is all connected to the timing belt and since you already have the belt off you should replace them anyway

We bought the car new but no longer under warranty, no current problems, just getting ready for this in about 10,000 miles. Never done much to the car- brakes and a battery that's about it. This engine is a interference engine and if the timing belt gives up the ghost going down the it will ruin the engine.
It would take some serious mods to put a 390 in this car, but it's nice to dream.
peanutman wrote:Thanks alpine, i called a local japanese spec shop and they said $450 that sounds much better. They are a referred shop and i was told does good work. The guy i talked with was actually japanese and said they do tons of them and use honda parts. Once again thanks - i knew you guys wouldn't let me down.
slightly OT if you will, but is it just me or do they warranty it just shy of when the parts will first need replaced under normal use?
And whats with the 10/100 deal? 10 years or 100K miles wichever is first so if in your first year you put 100K+ on the clock your outa luck. I understand the 2-10 year limits to keep you from bringing a 2040 or older in for repairs under warranty in 2051. but 100k can be clocked within 1-2 years. if not sooner.
Sorry. Question/Rant off.
