manifold gaskets on a 360

Post by danno »

Anyone know a good way to get the bolts out of the 360 manifolds without breaking them off, and what is the best gaskets to put back on so you don't have to do it again !!! :?

heat the ears on the heads where the bolts go through them. red hot so that they glow red. bright red. orignally they was no gasket between the head and manifolds. or so i have read. gettignt he manifolds plained in a machine shop and no gasket is the best way to mess with the gaskets. other gaskets that i have seen are the complete metal shim type gaskets. on my truck before i knew about plaining off the manifold we put two gaskets on per side because the manifold kept cracking in the center. i think these were felpro fibered type of gaskets.
