Caliper bolt bushings won't stay put in anchor plate.

Post by robroy »

Hi!

Today I'm trying to install my disc brake calipers, but the bushings pressed in to the anchor plate keep popping out. When I tap on the caliper mount bolts, the bushings on the inside ride the bolt right out.

Here are the bushings I'm talking about--please ignore the springs in the photo:

Does anybody know how I can get these bushings to stay in my disc brake anchor plates? Do I need to use some kind of glue to keep them in there? Or should I delicately smash their casings in some way that makes them a tighter fit? I tried that second idea already with no success.

Thank you very much!

I'll pick up some of the strongest thread lock in the morning and try that; maybe that will be enough to cement the bushings in place.

Thanks!

Am I missing something?
Seems to me they will be captive and position themselves after
you get the whole thing together. Are you not even able to get
it together?

Those bushings really threw me. :)
My 1/2 ton don't have anything like that stuff. ...Yipeee! ;)
I've always really liked the way Ford made my front brakes. :)
