i stopped and seen a guy about a dent side ford it was sittin in a field buy his house. I only stodded because i am lookin for a motor for project truck but he let me look at the truck. It is a flat bed with ugly paint but when i popped the hood there was a wierd lookin ford motor in there it had a funny lookin intake and big tappet pans the top end was pretty big he told me it was a 400 or a 460 or some thin like that but i myself know what them motors look like its no fe or a windsor either that is what made me look further in to it so i looked at the underside and seen the skrew in soft plug holes and remembered what the engine rebuilding book said about that. It is for sale but i dont have the money to get it dammit any ways that sucks its even gots the 4spd behind it good thing this guy dont give a $hit about it or know what is under the hood but I will get it I am determined to do so even if i have to get good and drunk with him and buy it with a case of beer and some cash an get it home that night p.s. no B.S
if its fixed break it again red white and ford blue the only up hill thats good is the one you are going down
i always thought and i never really knew. that a boss 302 was a 302 with 289 heads. so its a larger head with off set soft plugs in the block? how does one look in the junkyard all stripped out? no covers cam or intake?
Now that could be a real find. Yeah, a Boss 302 is a SBF with 351 cleveland heads, and a special intake.
Wow, If it has the original Boss toploader that could be a screaming find. If it still has the stamped data plates, you need to mortgage your children!
Good luck!

I may be wrong here, but I was under the impression a BOSS 302 is a BOSS 302. The heads are Boss heads. The 351C 4V is a different engine that used similiar heads to the Boss 302. Basically, I don't see how you can say that the Boss 302 was made using cleveland heads because when the Boss 302 was made there was no such thing as a cleveland motor. The Boss came first, then the 351C 4V.
If it has screw in freeze plugs it's worth a few bucks. A friend of mine had a stock 69 Boss 302/toploader in a 77 Bronco with 33's and 4.56's. The Bronco was pretty rough to drive. The engine had a major lack of low end to get the heavy bronco going and had a throttle more like an on/off switch than anything else. The friend sold that Bronco to a 19 year old kid who wrecked it the day after buying it.
they say you can make a boss out of a 302 with a specific year clevland heads that are machined in some way i think it is for the water ports to line up some thing like that but you dont get the 4bolt mains and the need for a one off manifold. The truck is for sail for two hundred bucks its got all i need to get my 4x4 going even has a steel floored flat bed and a wind shield. with a motor like that i would just sell it to fund other things going on in life but it cant be worth all that much i dunno I gotta round up the greenbacks to get it aye

I don't know what it's worth but it would be cool to have and the start of another project which will end up costing $$$.
If you don't want it, PM me. I would buy it if the $$$ is reasonable and work something out with you for a finders fee. I would stick it in a rat rod. I'm in Wi. Not that far from you. I just drove across Nebraska on 20. I could have gone North first.

I would agree with the above comment. The heads are simular but not the same.

Yep, that is correct, and apologize for making an over simplification in my original statement.
