Steering shaft source

Post by wickedinhere »

I was wondering if and where i could get the steering shaft for a 68- 3 speed column shift, manual steering. The previous owner really tore the threads up on it when he put the steering wheel on. I was going to run a thread chaser but they are messed up real bad. I am rebuilding the column so i would rather change it now
while its all apart then later.

here are some pics of it. there is some wear ont he end of the shaft where someone didn't replcae the rag joint when it wore out. but that wont hurt anything with a new rag joint bolted to it. this is the best one i have.

i have another one. it is from a 3 speed manual column. it is in the same or a little more worn conditon than the previous pics. the damage is in the same place. this truck had a bad rag joint also. the rag joint came apart when i pulled the column out.
