can you weld and do you have a welder? i would get the mustang II crossmember from fatmans and get the componets from a junk yard.

Ay man, yes I have a welder and know how to weld. Not sure about Fatmans though. They are located real close to me but I hear their service isn't the best and a few other small things. Seems like a lot of money for a bare clip for 500 bucks. Mustang II's seem a little over priced and over exaggerated (sp).

yes fatmans sucks i know. we got a frame stub from them for a 56 pontiac safari and the rad support braket was in the wrong place and we had to move it. also the rack and pinion setup was horrible that where where putting on that elonor clone. ended up making are own. if i where you i would buy one and then take it back after i measured it. the botton is just a square tude with some holes in it. the top has hats that are weld to the top of the frame. also not too hard to make. i though about sending it back and making my own but i got is discounted becuase my budy own his own fab shop. 469 bucks is not that much. hell i paid almost that much for my billet steering colmn. my back rims and tire where or 1000. i prob got 10,000 in my truck. half or more in the motor. if you want a nice custom truck you going to have to spend some money and i leard on my falcon it better to spend the money right the first time then to redo every thing later. check arounf fatmans is the only one who sells one and most crossmember are around that price for a wide frame ford pickup.

Bump!
Ok I am back again and thanks a lot for the info crewcab. I think I may just go ahead and put the dropped I Beams on my truck now because of no time to take out the motor and cut off the old clip, etc. So here are my questions.. They have dropped I beams for 66-72 and then 73-79 or something.
Well my front end has disk brakes from a 76 so what should I do about this? What dropped I beams should I order?

Thanks a lot for any info on this!

When you did your disc brakes did you swap the entire I-beam or just the spindles?

It was like this when I bought the truck. Some guy looked at the numbers on the beams and said the ending numbers were 75 so that meant the whole front end is a 76.... So the whole thing is swapped I think.
