Master Cylinder problems

Post by Roadrunner351w »

I currently have 2 problems right now with the brakes.

1. When the engine is running the master cylinder leaks fluid out around the top. I have replaced the seal on the lid and also the entire lid still same problem. Any suggestions?
Oh yea the brake booster and master cylinder are newly reman. from advance auto.

2. I used the mounting plate from a 1973 when I upgraded to disk brakes and I mounted the plate upside down. didn't think nothing about until I hit a bump and it mashed both metal blake lines flat. Anyway replaced the brakets with the original 67 ones and replaced the metal brakelines and bled the brakes now the front brakes won't release they are tight. It almost acts like the master cylinder ain't releasing or the calipers ain't releasing No problems with brakes before I mashed the brake lines flat. Any suggestions on this? This is the bracket I was refering to that I had upside down . JPG[/attachment]

Thanks again I replaced the Master Cylinder with one off a 1993 Ford F150 with a screw on cap and it works great.

Thanks again. Maybe everyone can benefit from the previous post about the Master cylinder. The off off a 1993 F150 works great and it looks good also.

just as a note the master cylinder is rated to go with certain sized wheel cylinders and disc brake calipers. if you have a mastere that controls a wrong sized wheel cylinder or caliper it mihgt not work properly down the road sometime.
