HELP- I BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE&NEED TO DROP IT

Post by texrodder »

I RECENTLY PICKED UP A 71 MODEL FOR $300 THAT WAS VERY CLEAN AND ORIGINAL SO I WANT TO KEEP THE BUDGET BUILD THEME GOING WITH THIS ONE,HAS ANYBODY SEEN OR DONE A CHRYSLER TORSION BAR FRONT SUBFRAME ON A BUMP,I KNOW IT WOULD WORK,BEING THE SAME WIDTH AS SLICK AND EARLIER MODELS,TO KEEP THE BUDGET BUILD THEME GOING WITH THIS ONE,I HAVE A LOW MILEAGE CLIP (FREE) FROM LATE 80'S CHRYSLER AND A (FREE) 8.8 FROM A 94 CROWNVIC,SO THE COST WOULD BE LESS THAN A COUPLE HUNDRED BUCKS TO DROP IT.I'VE HAD A FEW OLDER 62,56,53 F100'S I PUT VOLARE TYPE FRONT ENDS ON AND ALL SEEMED TO WORK OUT NICE ,WHAT ARE YOUR OPINIONS,KEEP IT CHEAP,BUY BEAMS,OR USE A MII OR ?.THE HARDEST PART I SEE IS REMOVING THE I-BEAM CROSSMEMBER ,&FABBING MOTOR MOUNTS.MOUNTING THE SUBFRAME SHOULD ONLY TAKE A FEW HOURS,AS WELL AS FLIPPING THE REAR.
WHAT DO YA'LL THINK?

my :2cents: is that you cant go wrong with the beams, hangers, and shackels(djm)
its not too expensive and you can take it off if you ever go back to stock.
i would think you could be driving it with djm stuff installed by the time you got the frame cut off with just the front clip

The Chrysler torsion front end is now fairly old school and in my honest opinion, not nearly as clean and good-looking as the Must.II (I've got a Must.II in my '56) but I'd still probably go with the dropped beams and leaf hangers which is what I'm doing to my '69.
