The problems started after I put in the points eliminator kit (works great!)and new plugs. The timing actually stays in one place at idle now, I have it locked at 12* dead on, the vac advance pot on the carb works but the damn thing wouldn't tune right with a new Eddy 500 and a rebuilt Carter 650 both ran like total crap and huffed blue smoke out the exhaust after the points went away. Just for shits and giggles I grabbed the Holley 390 that was sitting on top of the slant six in the 48 chevy. I put a quick change vac secondaries and electric choke on it awhile ago but never rebuilt it after getting the carb for 20 bucks at a swapmeet.
It works great (still huffs some blue smoke) it runs smooth and has the power back. So now I am convinced that I have one of "those Fords" that is picky and hates AFB carbs and will only like Holleys even tho I'm not the biggest fan. So I have this other Holley sitting on the shelf that came from who knows where and it is the only one I have with the Ford kickdown linkage but I need to know what cfm it is and what it came off of so I can get a kit for it.
Here are the numbers...
Air horn- List-4452-1 with 0898 below that.
Top main body on the pass side- 6R 3059 B
Top of metering block- 6557 with 44521 below that
The jets are 66 (look new) and it needs a power valve (missing)
How should I set this carb up for this motor? Stock rebuilt 390 with a Eddy streetmaster intake, C6, not sure what gears, wifes daily driver.
