got some 36s, need to raise!

Post by ares360 »

any CHEAP ideas. one person suggests longer coil springs on front and leaf spring spacers on back. don't know how high I will need to go to clear 36 inch tires that I got for christmas? I don't do much offroading, so they don't need to be extreme.

Is your truck a 4x4? if not then why do you need 36's? F250 4x4's have leaf springs in front. If you in fact have a 2wd, then sell those tires and but something that actually fits your truck. Twin I Beams don't like to be lifted.
Side oiler FE, see if you can catch me!!!

his sig shows a 250... maybe hes working on a different one? a 100? the 100s have coils.

my 100 has a 4" lift. 32/11.50s rub on the trailing arms

NEVER! lol. you don't need to be an offroad junky to enjoy big tires. I will probably be switching to 4x4 anyway.

You won't enjoy constant rubbing and the decreased handling abilities. You'll wear out your steering and Twin I Beams were NOT designed to be lifted and you'll ruin your front end. Get tires that fit or it'll cost you more in the long run when your front end wears out and then your tires are next.

I bought a truck once that was lifted in the front about an inch and it drove like crap. Don't do it. I know from experience. If you insist on lifting the 4x2 then go for it. BTW, my 70 F250 4x4 Has to be lifted to run 36" or they'll rub. So the 4x2 would have to be lifted 8 inches or so and you'll gain nothing but headaches.

I saw that but it didn't specify 4x2 or 4x4.

still 2wds have trailing arms too, im fairly sure he wont fit 36s without them rubbing every time he changes lanes
