Are Dentside coil spring mount cups the same on both sides?

Hi Folks!

I notice that on #50 (1972 F250 8,100lb GVW), the lower spring mounting cups (they're actually shaped more like bells) are identical on both sides of the vehicle.

So in order for coil springs to fit, the coil springs would also need to be identical to one another on the bottom (or close, at least). And, indeed, the stock coil springs are.

But my Moog 8646 springs aren't, and they're listed for Dentside era vehicles. I suspect that the springs I was shipped could be mismatched, for the wrong vehicle, or defective.

So are the lower spring mount cups/bells identical on both sides (passanger and driver) of Dentside vehicles?

bumpside and dentside coil spring cups are different from each era. if you use bumpside springs you need bumpside cups. if you use dentside sprinmgs you need dentside cups. the cups are the exact same on both sides. i have some dent side cups. there are pics on the site of the different cups for both eras. this wasnt what i remembered but its close enough. http://www.fordification.com/images/70v ... gpad01.jpg

Yes, they're the same side-to-side. If your spring pigtails are different, then somebody in the shipping department messed up, and one of the needs to be returned for the correct piece.

Fordman and Keith, thank you for your replies! This is fantastic news since I've been scratching my head over this issue now for months!

I even tried to hire several shops to bend the driver's side spring end to fit, thinking it was supposed to be that way for Dentsides! Good thing they all said it couldn't be bent without heating it!

Sure enough--the new Moog 8646 springs arrived and their bottoms are identical! Fantastic!!!
