Re: Looking to lower, got some ?'s
The' DJM-DB3000-3' pieces in the listing are for a 1987-1996 F-150. Those won't work on our trucks.

Oh I see now, I think I saw them and got a little to excited over the price which made me overlook a couple of important things.
Thanks

Re: Looking to lower, got some ?'s
So I asked around and found a '73 F-100 with front disks in good condition and I can take anything off and get it for free! That would work with my '67 F-100 right?

Re: Looking to lower, got some ?'s
Well the DJM i-beams i'm going to order from summit racing fit from a '65 to a '79, so the '73 disc brakes shouldn't be a problem then. I can't wait till I get to lower it, I don't care if its cold or not i'm still putting them on asap.
Thanks td and texrodder for answering my ?

Re: Looking to lower, got some ?'s
Got a couple quick questions. If I use the DJM drop i-beams will it affect my turning radius, or rub the tires? And will I have to get different shocks after its lowered?

Re: Looking to lower, got some ?'s
1967AceStroker,
the i-beams will not effect your turning radius, and as far as rubbing goes it really depends on what you'll be using for wheels and tires. when i first dropped mine i had the stock steelies and 235 70's on them and there was no rubbing what so ever. when i swapped over to the custom wheels i had to spend a lot of time making sure i ordered the correct backspacing so i wouldn't have any issues with them. i was pretty nervous while i waited on the custom wheels to arrive (4 months) as to whether or not my measurements were made correctly or not, it was a custom order on the bolt circle and they plainly told me NO RETURNS! All worked out well and i have no rubbing with them at all.
as far as the shocks go the i-beams retain the stock mounting location so you'll use a stock shock. although it would be a really good time to replace them if needed. in the rear the shocks on my f100 lay down at such a steep angel that as you lower it it just increases the angel more than it compresses the shock. so i stayed with a stock shock as well back there and have no probs with them bottoming out at all.

Re: Looking to lower, got some ?'s
Thank you very much td! I have wanted to do this for a long time and had so many questions and concerns that I was holding off. Before I found this sight I had obtained NO good advice or knowledge what so ever. Asking about a 3" lower locally I have had people tell me you need to fabricate your own frame and suspension and others say just cut the coils in half for the front and take all but two leaf springs to lower the back. I now have the cofidence to customize my truck, from the information you guys have provided for me specifically or just in general. Now I can say I know some real experts who I can ask truck questions any time. This site is the true home of the old ford truck experts. Thanks, Josh

Hopefully i'll be showing you the new stance soon!

Re: Looking to lower, got some ?'s
Darnit got another question. I am going to lower with the djm beams in front and hanger and shackle in the back. I got to looking and if I drop the rear 4" there won't be much room for travel. Will I have to C-Notch the frame?

it would be a good idea to plan on a notch, if not now maybe later. mine doesn't hit on a regular basis but when the speed and the road conditions match up it will bottom out and has hit pretty hard before. keep in mind that mine has the front hanger flipped and only has three leafs and the overloads in it. so if your gonna be running more spring than me in the rear you may not have as much of a problem with it as i do. i say put it all together and drive it a while and see for yourself if you'll need one.

Re: Looking to lower, got some ?'s
Now I got a wheel question. I have 15 x 8 in front and 15 x 10 in the back. I can fit a 15 x 10 in back with it lowered, I just need different offset than I already have, cause the current rims stick outside the body just a little. Would any of you happen to know what this offset would have to be for the rear with a 15 x 10 rim to fit? I am thinking about getting some rims that LMC sells (polished aluminum modular wheel). They don't show the option to select different offsets though, mabey they will work?
Edit: I just called LMC and the lady said that the rims they sell are original replacments, so i'm guessing they are probably the original offset. So they probably clear the fender and everthing else so they can still get full suspension travel. Do you think they'll work?

1967acestroker
sorry to get in the post late, but maybe i can help a little?
i have the djm stuff on the back of mine.it bottoms out every now n then, like td says the speed and bump you hit will tell how hard and how mutch
i have 15x8s with 255x70s all the way around and it turns fine with no rubbing front or rear.
the off set thing i cant help, but i think tds is 4 1/4 on the back? i am sure, he will chime in shortly
i too am looking for the right wheel and tire combo
i think that the best 15'' wheel size is 15x7 front and 15x8 rear
but if you want to go bigger like tds you can run the 8s on the front and 10s on the back and they fit cause the wheel is over the tierod ends
rember the front tracking is widder in the front so keep that in mind too
i am sure you have looked at the lowered bumps post??? its got some cool rides and good ideas in it

Re: Looking to lower, got some ?'s
I see that DJM dosent include king pins anymore, last set I bought was 3 years ago, they used to come with king pins for pre 75 or post 75 trucks, thats why I was warning you, makes sense to sell the beams for all and just purchase specific king pins seperate ,less packaging.1967AceStroker wrote:Well the DJM i-beams i'm going to order from summit racing fit from a '65 to a '79, so the '73 disc brakes shouldn't be a problem then. Anyway get it down and post some pics for us-we need motivation.
