re: lowering question
With the way the Twin I-beam suspension is engineered, the wheel alignment is constantly changing, depending on the amount of suspension travel. The alignment is only at specs when the truck is stationary on a level surface. As you drive and the suspension goes through it's normal travel, it'll flucuate quite a bit. It's just the nature of the beast. The question should be how much misalignment can you live with before bending the I-beams to compensate (or going with drop beams).
One of these days I'd really like to do some tests and compile a chart, showing the amount of aligment change for each inch of drop. I could just use a stock set of springs and trim them a coil or so at a time and then get the alignment measured after each trimming. Until then, I don't know what else to tell you.
