Long Bed Weight?
I'm going to remove the bed on my 1970 Ranger long bed, and I'm curious as to how much it weighs. I'm wondering if I need another guy to help me or three other guys to help lift it off. Any guesses on the weight of a long bed?
Also... as far as I can tell, it's 6 bolts and the tail light wiring to get it off the frame?

My brother said he and a friend could pick up a shortbed, I can't imagine two more feet of sheetmetal could weigh much more.... ![Hmmm :hmm:](./images/smilies/icon_hm.gif)

re: Long Bed Weight?
If it were me (and it will be eventually) I would want two people per side.
It's not just the weight, it's how unwieldy they can be.

re: Long Bed Weight?
I just sold a LWB bed to a forum member recently and when he came to get it, just the two of us were able to lift it off and shuffle over a few feet to set it on a trailer. My arms got stretched out a couple inches....but it's do-able. (And I'm a skinny guy!....well, not counting the mid-section). ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

We used three guys to get the lwb bed off the 71, but I still managed to get my finger caught between the bed and the frame.![Doh ](./images/smilies/icon_doh.gif)

Thanks
Thanks for the info. Now I know what to plan for. I do intend to reuse the bed and I need to weld in a quarter panel on the passenger side. Any info on the best place to grab those along with a front grille insert?
I know of www.npdlink.com, and Dennis Carpenter, and Mac Auto Parts... any other good places?

re: Long Bed Weight?
There are quite a few very good vendors listed on the LINKS page. The first seven on the list there are pretty much mandatory for getting catalogs from if you have a '67-'72 truck. ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

re: Long Bed Weight?
Someone was talking in another topic about emptying the bed by backing up real fast and romping on the brakes...you could unbolt the bed and remove it that way.
Or maybe not.
