A re-introduction, and a new truck :D

Post by PhilthyF100 »

Hi guys'n'girls, I joined here a few months back did the introduction thing and posted pics of my cars and truck at the time..
A few months later, the season's changed, plans have changed, and my collection has changed :thup:
Back then my truck was a 1976 F100. That's pretty much the reason I haven't really been active on here (amongst many other reasons :( )
As of last weekend I finally got my first bump :D She's a '71 F350. I don't really have much info on it at the moment, I haven't delved too deply into the info on the body tags yet, but its the long wheelbase model, with 10,000GVW.
It was originally a 6cyl/4spd, but someone has replaced the six with a 302 cleveland.

a couple of pics:

my original F100, and another '75 F350 i picked up that i'm using for parts:

The plan is to extend the frame by using the rear of the bump, and the front of the 75 F350's frame. the Bump's cab will then be restored and dropped on top. I will be building a beavertail/ramptruck rear for it along the lines of these:

so anyways, thats the basics about my trucks.. for those that never read my original introduction, my name is Phil, and i live in South Australia. 8)
I'll be a lot more active on here now i've got the bump, you'll see me posting questions all over the place :lol:
Two quick questions, where would be the best place to post a thread with questions regarding frame lengthening, and has anyone else here got a bumpside ramptruck/beavertail/transporter?

cheers,
Phil.

oh and this is what i'll be carrying on the truck :thup:

Always nice to see a big bump here. You could keep the bump frame in one piece, just bolt the disc brakes from the '75 right on that bump.

I'd like to keep it in one piece, would make things a lot easier, but it's not quite long enough unfortunately.

First, welcome, or welcome back, or ????

To everyone else, just to illustrate the uniqueness of this old bump he has, it has a 302 Cleveland. Thats Aussie speak for what we called a Boss 302 here in the states.

Now needless to say I would guess it isnt the race inspired solid lifter big valved 302 with C heads that the Mustangs got, but its certainly got a few cool points at first glance!

yes it's got the cleveland block (identical to the 351c, but with shorter stroke) and closed chamber 'aussie 2V' heads. Standard valves, small hyd. cam.
The engine from the black F100 will be going into the bump, thats a 351c, also running the CC 2V heads for good compression. I run it on LPG, I think that's propane to you guys?

I wouldn't mind upgrading to a 460 big block, but people want good money for them over here... the lil 'ol 351 should do for now :thup:

just had a quick look at the tags..

manufactured 1/71
eng = D
trans = M
RR axle = D
FT axle = B
Paint = U
trim = B (seats 3)
body prefix = AK3JLO

now thats the Aussie codes, I don't know if or how they relate to US ones..
Anyone able to tell me what they are? :)
