Nasty little surprise

Post by shrektruck »

Finally got around to tightening up the lines on my power steering box and adjusting the sector shaft depth.
Surprise, surprise, the whole box moved when I went to tighten the line.
Found all the mounting bolts loose (real loose) and one sheared off.
Glad I didn't discover this problem at 80 MPH!
Sure does track a lot better now.

Just to be safe, might want to check the frame for possible cracks where the box bolts up. Good thing our frames aren't as crack prone as the chebby guys. :D

Good idea. I'll look. Don't think so though. The whole truck's in pretty good shape.
Thanks.

I checked mine just in case, no such luck, I just got a bad pump. Guess I will keep going with the "Armstrong" brand steering for a while more. lol
