Fix or replace cab mounts?

Post by CO684X4 »

I need to fix my cab mounts they are not to bad but I want to fix them while the truck is apart. Should I repair them by welding in new metal or just replace them? I would like to try and repair them to save some money but im not exactly sure how to go about fixing them.

Depends on how skilled you are with a welder mainly.

You can just weld patches in but it would probably be easier to just get new ones.

I believe Dennis Carpenter has the recommended ones.

I of course could be wrong.

Is it just the holes that bother you there? i think someone drilled them out to give water a way out of that area.

People used to do that with the 50's chevy cars and trucks the front fender/cowl on them had amajor moisture trap. So they'd drill a few holes for drainage.

i say clean them out and if they are solid por-15 them inside and out.

that rust spot looks to be flaked off paint and surface rust if it is you could save even the 17.00 plus shipping and just clean them. If that spot is solid.
