Hood?
I remember seeing a form about a carbon fiber hoods made for a 67 F100. Does anyone have the website?

yea you're right its not a bad $ but shipping would run it up 100 or so and if you wanted a custom scoop it would be another 100. so they could get pricy.robroy wrote:Hi Td! What would the gas mileage be on a strictly fiberglass body truck with the original engine.
I can't afford to spend the money to find out.

Don't know, but it'd have to lighten these old trucks up a bit. I guess we'll never know the exact figures on that.

not so sure it would be lighter. in order to hold up to the stress of daily driving and normal abuse, i'd think the fiberglass would have to be thick and heavy.

Good morning, I've also heard that fiberglass in cars isn't necessarily lighter than steel. A piece of fiberglass that's just as strong as the same piece made of steel is usually heavier, since as Rjewkes points out they're pretty thick!
As I understand it, fiberglass is used because it's a lot easier to form funny shapes out of than steel--easier to form any shape out of, actually.
These fiberglass chunks could be an exception though since they talk about drag racing on their site.
