Hood Latch problems

Post by FS ford250 »

I am looking for a spring for the hood latch for an 68 F250 I noticed as I was going down the highway last week the hood looked like it was floating I pulled over and sure enough the only thing holding it back from slapping the windshield was the safety latch I found a parts place that would sell me the whole latch for $$$$ but everything else works great all I need is the spring that keeps the latch closed I don't know what they call it I searched the web site to see if there were any prints or pictures but I found none one parts place says they have a hood latch return spring but when I called them to confirm it was what I was looking for the guy said he has no drawings and they are out of stock. So is there any one out there that can put a name on it or point me in the right direction
It is the sping that pop's the jaws closed when you put the hood down
Thank you for your replies

fs ford250 take Ryan up on his deal even when these trucks were new they didnt sell just a spring for the latch Ford sold it as one unit. Belive it or not this was the way that any of the big 4 got deeper in your pocket. Beside that would have been to easy for them to do. To easy to make a .10 spring and sell them for 2-3.95 then stock them ship them to the parts warehouse ect ect.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing on the way home as I watched the hood bounce up and down (tied with a rope) for the 10.00 I can't go wrong
Thanks
