Please,

I need to know does the seal on the kingpin go on the top or bottom pivot point of the spindle?

yes, I'm a goof for not making myself a diagram when I took it apart, but I did it at work and I had to get outta there fast before my boss saw me :D

I do remember the cast in "dimple" goes down, but can't remember as to which end the seal goes.

thanks

jason

Thanks

I've seen that pict before, I just thought the item above the axle was the shims?

If that item above the axle is the seal, how do the shims get grease, or do they?

thanks again

What are you calling a "seal"? There is a bearing and some shims. The bearing goes at the bottom, as that is where the load is. Shims are at the top to take up play.

Grease doesn't need to ever get up into the axel (twin -I) itself, as the kingpin is held immobile with the keeper and is not supposed to move at all.

If you have more parts than these, then I am confused......

yes, my kit came with these very small seals,

there were also a pair of these in my spindals when I took it apart.

I'm done assembeling it now. I used a socket to move the bushing just enough to install these in the top just above the shims.

hope it's correct :?

You got me. Never seen them before.

I have seen the setup for a 65 and also a 77, neither of which seems to have had those seals.

I would assume that they are not so critical, but if you have them, I'd install on the bottom if I was guessing......
