my '72 F-100 drum brake booster has failed and I am hoping to find a junkyard replacement.
I know that the 73-79 booster will bolt up to the firewall and pedal. Does anyone know whether a 73-79 booster will work with my drum master cylinder?

A '77½ thru '79 booster will not work. See the following link for more info:jengle wrote:my '72 F-100 drum brake booster has failed and I am hoping to find a junkyard replacement.

However, any booster up through '77½ will work just fine for your drum brakes, regardless if it's original application was drum or disc.

re: Power brake booster interchange
thanks for the link to the article--I printed it for reference at the yard.
Just to make sure--I can take the 73-77 booster and bolt it onto the firewall and put my master on it? Pictures of the newer booster look like they have a shorter pushrod than the '72 style. I don't need that cantilever mount to go with the later booster do I?

When you get a booster, just get the booster and mounting brackets as a set. Whatever you use as a set will work just fine with your master cylinder.
