been snooping around the site for awhile and thought i would finally sign up.
i've got a 1969 SWB step side that needs some (alot) of TLC. i'm 17 and not quite as knowledgeable as alot of you. anyways, bad to the truck. it's got a 300 I6 with a 3 on the tree feeding a ford 9 inch with a 3.50 gear ratio.
it's definitely not going to be stop but i didn't exactly get a pristine truck to begine with . the bottoms of the fenders are fairly rust so i plan to chop the bottoms off and also the bottom of the bedd is pretty bad so i'm going to drop it down 6 inches and rebuild the wood bed and supports. i also have plans to make a folding hood like they had on model a's but with a slight twist. i'll keep you guys updated on the progress.
plans are to rebuild what we can and hack the rest up and make it look decent. we're going to make a bumper from scratch since the stock one is ugly and it's going to wrap around and under the rear fenders which are going to be cut off like the one in this picture.
One of the best things I got from this site is catalogs from Ford suppliers. I can now actually start planning a budget to fix my '72. (Next step is to stick to that budget )
Welcome from Washington
thanks guys, i really appreciate the warm welcome. i plan to have some pictures of the problem area's up soon and may need some advice on repair(replacement isn't a big option right now due to being broke).
May I reccommend an attempt to find some fenders and a bed for your truck?
It would surely look better than "hacking" up a body like that.
Fenders, tailgates, hoods and beds can still be found. (And there should be some boneyards in your area with some).
Regardless of what you do... from Bartow, Florida.
