Brake interchange question

Post by AlleyCat »

Does anyone know if the spindles on a 67 F100 2wd are the same as the 68-72 F100 2wd trucks? I want to swap the front brakes from my 72 onto my 67. I know discs are the way to go as I've already done the swap on my 72 but the 67 is a low budget build and I'm trying to use parts I already have.68 - 72 used bigger front brakes. :)

Thanks
Clay

The spindles will interchange, but they're not the same. You can use the '72 spindle in your '67, as long as you also use all the '72 steering linkage as well.

It would be MUCH easier to simply swap the brake assemblies. You don't have to swap the spindles too if you're just installing the '72 drum brakes on the '67.

Thanks Keith. That's what I needed to know. The 67's PO had installed new king pins and all new steering linkage shortly before he crashed it.
