Will rims off of a 2001 F-350 fit my 68 250?
I found a deal on 4 new american racing rims for a 2001 F-350 for a smokin deal, But earlier today I had a friend who had factory take offs from a 2008 F-250 and they did not fit because the bolt pattern was about 1/4 inch bigger on the new rims. My question was what year did they start the bigger bolt pattern and will the 01s fit my 68? I have been told that they switched in 2003 when they started producing the 6.0 diesel but I would think they would have started that in 98 when the new body style came out but Im not sure. Thanks for the help

You can have a reputable machine shop machine and install inserts to convert late model wheels to 8-6 1/2" bolt pattern.Shouldnt cost more than 30-40 bones per wheel.

Actually 97 model year on the F150 and 98 on the F250-350 except I'm not sure on that odball F-150 cabbed F-250 they made but I'm guessing it had the newer style. Or that really odd 7 bolt wheel, can't remember for sure.Wes wrote:No 1997 and up are metric bolt circle, your truck is sae 6.5"

I just got a set of factory ford Alcoa aluminum rims, 2 off of a 1997 F-250 and 2 off of a 1995 F-250 so 1997s will fit perfect, 98 is the year that they changed the 3/4 ton and up trucks to metric I will take a picture of my 1997 rims on my 1968 truck. The 1998 light duty F-250 was the stupid glamorized F-150 with 7 bolt wheels and it didn't even have a full floater axle. They also made the super duty in 1998 in the new style truck if I remember right and that new style truck is when they switched to metric.

Correct, the OBS bolt pattern 8-6.5 will fit. Those will look good on your bump. I think the center caps clamp onto the lug nuts, so be sure and get lug nuts that will work.

Well I made a mistake, they did offer the light duty F-250 in 1997 to, that was in the new F-150 body style and it was the same as the 98 light duty, its the 97 regular F-250 rims that will work. I totally forgot that they had the light 250 in 97 but we just got a 97 light duty F-250 at our shop that we are selling and my boss has a 97 regular F-250 and I have the same rims as him. Thanks for all the help I have learned a lot about bolt pattern changes in the last few days. As far as the center caps Ill have to check but there is 4 indent areas where it looks like they clip on to the rim it self and not the lugs but Ill check on my bosses 97, I may just go with out them for now being they did not come with the rims.

That very well could be. I have been out of the tire business for a few years now and now I am starting to forget stuff.Sindelir wrote: As far as the center caps Ill have to check but there is 4 indent areas where it looks like they clip on to the rim it self and not the lugs but Ill check on my bosses 97, I may just go with out them for now being they did not come with the rims.

Yeah I thought they would look good so I had to find a set, Got the last 5 in the twin cities area $60ea for four of them and $45 for one that was a little less than perfect but i figured it will make a good spare, I will post pictures when I get them on, Im now tire shopping and a guy at the shop I work at use to work a Firestone and thinks he can get me a set of new Firestone Steel Techs for around $300 new but left over from before they quit production, Im not sure what the best size would be best but Im looking at 265/75/16 load rating E, thats the size my dad has on his 92 F-250 and it seems to be a nice size tire.

SteelTex AT is a decent (road / light all terrain) tire and the SteelTex R4S is a good road tire. I think they would serve you well. The 265/75R16 is roughly 32x10.50R16 and they look good on the 16x7 stock wheel.Sindelir wrote:a guy at the shop I work at use to work a Firestone and thinks he can get me a set of new Firestone Steel Techs for around $300 new but left over from before they quit production, Im not sure what the best size would be best but Im looking at 265/75/16 load rating E, thats the size my dad has on his 92 F-250 and it seems to be a nice size tire.
