Bump/dent chassis differences?

Post by PhilthyF100 »

Hi all. First post, so a quick introduction.
My name's phil, I'm from south Australia, and i'm a Fordaholic :D
I've got a couple of modified 70's falcons, and a 76 longbed 4x2 F100.
The reason for this post, I'm doing a few major mods to my truck, and my main source of measurements so far is the following link:
http://www.fordification.com/images/FAQ/bb70/p04.gif
The problem is, thats for the earlier (better :) ) model truck. As I can't find the same sort of detailed drawing for a dentside, I'm having to use that one.
From reading the 'frame swap' page on the homepage, the only difference is an increased wheelbase, and the chassis width increased aft of the rear cab mounts.
Is everything else the same? are all the cab and radiator support panel mounts the same?
Where exactly does the chassis width increase?
I guess the wheelbase was stretched between the rear cab mounts and the front mounts for the rear springs.
And lastly (for now), did the distance from the centre of the rear wheel, to the rear-most point of the frame rail increase at all?

the reason I need to work all this out? I recently obtained a 1970 Galaxie from a good friend, and the cab from my truck is going on the Gal's reworked frame. It'll be chopped to match the wheelbase of a short bed 4x2 '76, as i originally wanted a shortbed :)

thanks in advance for any help,
Phil.

Thanks Keith, thats great :)
They didn't seem to want to provide as many measurements in the '76 drawings as they did the earlier ones hehe..
I guess as it wasn't mentioned in the 'frame swap' article, the cab mount measurements are the same for both models. I'm sure if they were different, thus causing issues, it would have been mentioned :)
Thanks again, Keith.
Thanks too, Redcap and SteveC, i'll post a couple of pics in the welcome mat thread i'm about to post :)
