1967 Camper Spl Wheels
I own a 1967, Ranger, Camper Special. It is 100% original. My son purchased this truck for me in Wy. and I have only seen pictures. The truck is stored on a friends ranch and I plan to drive this to NH this summer.
My question. Since this has split-rims I'm thinking I should replace the rims with non-split rims (with new tires), keeping the original rims (but not using them). Does this make sense?
What rim should I use?
How many studs do these have?
What tire size should I use?
Sorry to seem so uninformed about the 67. I actuall own a 1966 F100 I restored. I just have little info on the 67.
Thanks,
Joe Gilbert

It'll be an 8 lug rim. Just get some non-splits off of a newer Ford 3/4 ton. I think '96 is the cut off year before they went to metric, but you'll find 80s wheels to be plentiful. Throw the splits away, they're not even worth the space it'll take to store them.
Tire size is a preference issue, but if you're looking for a stock-ish look with easy availability use 235/85-16.

Kyle raises a good point too, I was assuming it was an F-250. If you have a 1 ton, F-350 you're going to have dually wheels so you'll not want 3/4 ton wheels.

Keep in mind that you could also get a 5-lug F100 Camper Special in '67.

True that, but were they offered with split wheels? I've seen 15" splits, but I don't think I ever saw them on a Ford. I had always assumed they were a Willys-Overland item or something along that line.

also assuming it's a 250, you could go 16" or 16.5". Not a lot of tires out there for the 16.5's anymore but it's what the earlier trucks came with.
like this 9.50x16.5 10 ply Goodyear Hi-Miller wide tread.. Wish I could get 4 of these new... This is the original spare for my 72 CS.

Yes it is an F250. Sorry, I should have stated this. I'll ask the folks at the ranch in Laramie to verify the present rims and tire size.
Thanks for the input. I now know what size rims to obtain before I travel to Wy. this fall.
This will be the second truck I have purchased in the Laramie. I also purchased my 1966 there and drove it home. These are both nice trucks with zero rust.

If you don't want the split rim I can meet ya in Cheyeen and take them off your hands. If you are driving out bring a set with ya as there are not any places in laramie that will let you pull your own parts. I may have enough extra's laying around let me dig and see if I can hook you up
Not to go off topic but who did you buy the truck from over there?

re: 1967 Camper Spl Wheels
I can't tell you you the previous owner was though I can get that info. My son Tim purchased the truck for me and still has the bill of sale. I only have seen pictures. Tim saw it for sale and having purchased my 1966 in Centenial, WY for me he knew a nice pick-up when he saw one. I purchased the camper special in 2004 and it has been stored at a friends ranch in Laramie since than. I hope to get it to NH this Oct. We'll be driving through with our RV, towing a Jeep. My plan is to bring my son Aaron to drive the truck back to NH while my wife and I continue on to UT and TX. My plan is to bring new tires and rims, service the truck, and hoped it is up to the 2000 miles drive to NH.
The truck is all white and has a white cap on the bed.
Again, thanks all for the info.
