how to tilt cab back onto chassis?

like this:

i need to coat the bottom of my cab with POR-15, and dont want to lift the very heavy cab off of the chassis, id rather lay it back like how Keith did it in the picture.
how in the heck do you do this without crushing rear cab corners and without crushing a helper?!

we dont have a cherry picker or anything, and the truck cant leave the confined space of the garage because the bed is behind it on the ground. the bed is very hard to move as well. buy if it has to be moved then we should be able to get it out of the garage some how. were going to have to eventually anyways lol

any ideas?

well now that i think about it and look at it...

the cab corners arnt going to hit anything and it should pivot fine on the bottom edge. and if i lay cushions on the chassis there should be no denting.
but thats still ALOT of weight to let fall onto cushions like that
:hmm:

I think you'd be surprized at the weight of a bare cab..Not that heavy..
When I cut that F250 up a few weeks back I had the cab stripped, unbolted and rolled if off to the side by myself and still was able to move it around myseft.ind of walking it but I could do it.
I would think that if you put something like a 2x6 across the frame rail so that whole rear lip of the cab makes contact it would spread the load out and not do any damage..

If it was me I would get 3 of my friends to help and do it that way. If you just tip it there is a decent chance that you could hurt the corner of the cab. If its just you and your dad it might be hard to handle the weight when you tip it back. I've never done it but it would be safe to have more people help you do it. I too plan on setting my cab back on the frame like that when I paint the bottom of it.

We will just cover the frame rails with the same mats that you have carpeting your floor. Why the heck am I answering your questions on this forum?

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~
